Friar Ramón Pané

Ramón Pané was a Jeronymite friar, probably Catalan by origin, active in the 1490s during the first years of Spanish occupation in the Caribbean. He earned the Taíno language and recorded the beliefs, rituals, stories, and sacred objects of the Indigenous peoples of Hispaniola.
